Blue Heron Farm is a small-scale vegetable farm committed to sustainable agricultural practices, which preserve and build healthy soils, support biodiversity, and minimize the use of water and fossil fuels. Over 50 varieties of vegetables are produced on the farm in Gardiner Mines, NS, for consumers across Cape Breton Island from early Spring through Fall. The health and well-being of farm-workers and the wider community are also supported by offering a living wage for workers, supplying the local food bank with produce and sharing time and expertise through educational and volunteer opportunities. Produce is sold through the Cape Breton Food Hub and at the Cape Breton Farmers' Market in Sydney, NS.
